US FS FB #27 - Shell: The shell is an original WWII McCord Radiator with a front-seam, stainless-steel outer band, and fixed bales. The heat stamp is lightly stamped as was most visible when the shell was stripped back; it is 250A (Aug 42). When acquired the shell had no paint to speak of but what existed was oxidized; had some very minor pitting in and out; had two clear stress cracks on at the front either side of centre; half a dozen faint stress cracks across the rear. There was no evidence of current rust and no other damage. The shell was stripped back to bare metal, primed then painted in olive-drab with a textured outer. A new OD3 chinstrap set has been fitted. Liner: The liner is an original WW2 high-pressure type manufactured by Westinghouse with the logo and the mould number D10 in the crown. When acquired, the liner was painted in what looked like a Korean War olive-drab.  The outer was stripped bare and repainted in olive-drab. The liner retained its original single-weave OD3 webbing; virtually all was present but in a rotted condition. The liner has been fully refitted with new OD3 triple-weave webbing, new A washers and rivets; new sweatband, new neck strap and a new leather chinstrap. Depiction: This helmet was restored to represent an MP helmet with MP in white with a white band.
