US FS FB #26 - Shell: The shell is an original WWII McCord Radiator with a front-seam, stainless-steel outer band, and fixed bales. The heat stamp is very faint and hard to read; I can make out 95B (I could only just make out the 9 - Mar 42). When acquired the shell was painted in perhaps a post-war olive-drab with some evidence of the original texture beneath; there was a piece of white cloth tape around the front and down the sides. The shell was stripped to bare metal, primed then painted in olive-drab with a textured outer. The shell is in good condition with only a few minor dings in the crown and two stress cracks across the rear. A new OD3 chinstrap set has been fitted. Liner: The liner is an original Korean War vintage high-pressure type manufactured by CAPAC/Westinghouse (a Korean war era merger) with respective mould numbers in the crown. There is also a MICARTA patch dated 1952. When acquired, liner was painted in its original factory olive-drab; this finish was stripped bare and remains in an unpainted finish. The liner also had all its original OD7 webbing plus all its ‘A’ washers and rivets. The liner has been fully refitted to WW2 specifications as an Infantry liner with new triple-weave OD3 webbing, new ‘A’ washers, new rivets, new sweatband, new neck strap and a new leather chinstrap. Depiction: This helmet has the emblem for 90th Infantry Division; a T through an O in red; originally in WW1 known as ‘Texas Oklahoma’; in WW2 known as the ‘Tough Ombres’. An olive-drab cam net has been fitted.
