US FS #86 - The shell is an original WWII McCord Radiator with a front seam, stainless-steel band and swivel bales. The heat stamp is 518A. When acquired, the interior was in poor condition with surface rust in the dome; the exterior was bare metal on top with some original paint and texture lower down around the edge; various insignia was painted on the helmet, probably post-war; there are a few dings around the crown, a stress crack at the rear and another near one of the chinstrap bales. The shell was stripped to bare metal, primed and painted olive-drab with a textured outer.  A new OD3 para chinstrap set has been fitted. The liner is an original WW2 high-pressure type manufactured by Westinghouse. The Westinghouse logo is in the crown with the mould number 20. When acquired, the liner had all its factory olive-drab but in a scuffed and poor condition. The liner retained a small portion of its original single-weave OD3 webbing. The only damage to the liner is an outwards pressure fracture to the forward crown; a dab of epoxy resin had been applied to the inside to stabilise this. The outer surface was stripped bare, primed and painted in olive-drab. This liner shell has been fully refitted with new A washers and rivets, new triple-weave OD3 webbing, new sweatband, new neck strap and new leather chinstrap. The helmet has the rank badge for a US Army Technician 5th Grade (T5) on the front and a green cam net has been fitted.
