US FS #84 - The shell is an original WWII McCord Radiator with a front seam, stainless-steel band and swivel bales. The heat stamp is 1017A. The outer retains 75-80% of its original factory paint and texture. The inner was a bit daggy; it was stripped to bare metal, primed and painted in olive-drab mainly to protect the cover and liner. There is no rust. A new OD3 chinstrap set has been fitted. The liner is an original WW2 high-pressure type manufactured by International Moulded Plastics Inc (IMP) Company. The IMP logo (little man in an oval) is in the crown with the mould number 3. When acquired, the liner had factory olive-drab covered in layers of thick olive-drab and a flakey white over paint. There is a 40mm crack in the right side which has been stabilised with epoxy resin. The liner retained all its triple-weave original OD3 webbing in fair condition; it has been retained; repaired in one spot. The outer surface was stripped bare, primed and painted in olive-drab. This liner shell has a replacement sweat band and leather chinstrap. The cover is an original USMC reversible camouflage type. It is of WW2 vintage without foliage slits and has the typical ‘dragon teeth’ stitching on beach side edging. It is in very good condition; the chinstrap slits are a little torn out. It may have been  re-issued in the Korean War as EGA stamps have been applied; it is still of WW2 vintage. A nice USMC helmet set.
