US FS #83 M1C - The shell is an original WWII McCord Radiator with a front seam, stainless-steel band and swivel bales. The heat stamp is 958D. When acquired, the shell was chromed externally which was not in good condition; the inner was clean. The shell has some minor dings to the crown and several minor stress cracks across the rear. There is no rust. The shell was stripped to bare metal, primed and painted olive-drab with a textured outer.  A new OD3 chinstrap set has been fitted. The liner is an original of Korean war vintage, high pressure type manufactured by Westinghouse. The Westinghouse logo and the mould number 102 can be found in the crown. When acquired, the liner was painted in layers of white and olive-drab. The original webbing was present in fair condition; a Korean Era OD7. The liner shell was totally stripped; and the outer was repainted in olive-drab. This liner is a bit out of shape; my guess is it sat skewed in a shell for many years. The inside has been fully refurbished with brand new triple-weave OD3 webbing, new A washers and rivets, new sweatband, new brown leather chinstrap, new para “A” straps, new neck strap, new para female snaps and new leather para chin cup. The helmet has the D-Day tactical flashes for the 1st Battalion 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) on each side and a dark olive-drab cam net has been fitted.
