Ssh36 #8 - The shell is an original, Russian Ssh36 (model 1936; 1936 – 40) example. When purchased the shell was in a rust affected condition; the inner dome and out upper sides were most affected but I was surprised at how well the helmet cleaned up. The vent comb and the inner vent area were rust affected and I had to use a little filler. There is still some evidence of the remains of rust on the vent comb but it looks okay. The right side of the visor is also a bit out of shape. The factory stamp 3 4810 is clearly stamped under the right ear flare; the 3 could indicate the shell size. The shell was primed and painted in dark green. The helmet has been fitted with a salvaged Czech leather liner with a leather chinstrap fitted. Head size is 58-59cm. This leather liner is attached to an original WW2 German zinc outer band. A red communist star is stencilled to the front of the helmet.
