M35 #30 - The shell is an original WW2 Model 1935, size 64cm example. It has the factory stamps NS64 (Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke) and the lot number is D253. The lot number was quite clear and the maker/size stamp marginally so before restoration. When acquired the shell was in a relic but surprisingly good condition. There was no original paint. A protective coat had been applied; something like WD40. The shell is in good condition; there is only some minor evidence of rust pitting. The shell was stripped to bare metal, primed then painted 1935-40 green inside with a camo pattern outside with a coarse texture. A 1938 acceptance stamp has been applied to the inner dome. Liner: The liner is an imported replica M1931 helmet liner, with a zinc outer band and pig skin leather. The leather is ink marked 57 (57cm head size). The liner is of the highest quality; imported from the Czech Republic; identical to originals and the best on the market. Chinstrap: The leather is an imported replica also from the Czech Republic. It is marked R.B.Nr.0/1001/0033. Restored Depiction: This shell is an SD elite and an ‘Erbsentarn’ or dot44 type camo pattern hand painted on the outer. I reckon it looks pretty good.
