M35 #27 - The shell is an original WW2 MoPdel 1935, size 66cm example. The factory stamps appeared when the shell was stripped to bare metal and were very faintly stamped as NS66 (Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke) size 66cm; the lot number being 6124. When acquired the shell was in a green repaint externally with a sawdust like texture; when stripped the bare surface was quite lumpy with pitting. The inside was quite smooth; only the flare had a little pitting near the rim and on the folded edge. This shell is very solid and it has no existing rust. The shell was stripped to bare metal, primed then a coarse texture was applied to the outer (to disguise the pitting). The inner has been painted the M35 type early green with an acceptance stamp applied. The outer is painted in a ‘panzer’ yellow with an olive-drab camo pattern applied. The liner is a nice replacement M1931 helmet liner, with a zinc outer band and pig skin leather. The leather is ink marked 59 (59cm head size). The liner is of the highest quality; imported from the Czech Republic; identical to originals and the best on the market. The leather chin strap is a crisp replacement with aluminium hardware and is marked OTTO GEHRICKENS PINNENBERG 1940. This M35 has a camo pattern inspired by an original example; SD Army.
