US FS #85 - The shell is an original WWII McCord Radiator with a front seam, stainless-steel band and swivel bales. The heat stamp is 927M (never seen an M before). When acquired, the shell was hand painted in a post-war green. There is no rust. The shell was stripped to bare metal, primed and painted olive-drab with a textured outer.  A new OD3 para chinstrap set has been fitted. The liner is an original of WW2 vintage, it is a high-pressure type manufactured by Westinghouse. The Westinghouse logo and the mould number D8 (the D is backwards) can be found in the crown. When acquired, the liner was painted in many layers; olive-drab, black, white and olive-drab on top. The original OD3 webbing was present in poor condition with a couple of rips. The liner shell was totally stripped externally and has been repainted in olive-drab. The inside has been fully refurbished with brand new triple-weave OD3 webbing, new A washers and rivets, new sweatband, new brown leather chinstrap, new para ‘A’ straps, new neck strap, new para female snaps and new leather para chin cup. The helmet has the D-Day tactical flashes for the 321st Glider Field Artillery Battalion; an element of the 101st Airborne Division. A dark olive-drab cam net has been fitted.
