M18 #8 Ludendorff Camo

M18 #8 - The shell is an original German, WW1, Model 1918 shell. It measures as size 64cm with the manufacturer stamps appearing faintly as Si64. This shell is very solid for its 100+ years of existence. When acquired the helmet was already restored and painted in a matt WW1 smooth green. It seems there has been some minor repair work to the crown and there are a few small dings. The liner is a replacement M18 (1918) type with a steel outer band, three leather tongues, a leather drawstring and attached chinstrap brackets. Each leather tongue has a pocket sewn to the rear and a small padded pillow is inserted in each. The pillows provide padding and assist with sizing. This liner will fit multiple medium head sizes. The leather chinstrap is attached directly to the liner as opposed to the M16/17 arrangement. One end is riveted and the other is looped to an adjustment buckle. The two ends attach via a carbine snap. This chin strap has been faithfully reproduced in a quality finish. The helmet has been painted in a tri-colour Ludendorff camo pattern which I have copied from an original example; grey-green, dark yellow and olive-drab make up the camo pattern colours.
