M16 #34 - The shell is an original German, WW1, Model 1916 shell. It is a size 66 with the manufacturer stamp ET66. This shell very good condition with only a couple of minor dings in the crown. When acquired this shell had already been restored and painted in flat WW1 smooth green. The liner is a 1917 version of the 1916 liner type with a steel outer band. It fits multiple head sizes. Size and comfort is adjustable through the drawstring and by modifying the padded ‘pillows’ contained at the inner side of each leather tongue. The leather chinstrap is the 1916 model attached to the posts riveted to the lower flare. It has two steel adjustment buckles and steel attachment pieces. The helmet represents a standard issue M16 helmet with the 1917 liner modification; it has the Red Cross symbol for a stretcher bearer hand painted on the front.
