M16/17 #1 - Shell: Original Austrian WWI Model 1917 size 66 steel shell. The original brown Austrian WWI paint was visible in part on the outer shell. The helmet was stripped to bare metal and painted in a Weimar Republic colour. Liner: Reproduction M1931 helmet liner, galvanized metal band with pigskin leather marked as size 58 with cotton drawstring. Chinstrap: Reproduction leather with aluminium fittings, markings on the tongue read ‘MARTIN PAUCKNER, BAMBERG, 1943’. Restored Depiction: The helmet is restored to depict a DD Army Transition Helmet.
