Japanese #20 - Shell: The shell is an original Type 90, WW2, Japanese combat shell in good condition apart from a 30mm crack at the centre rear; the crack has been stabilized with weld. When acquired the shell was painted green with a French type liner system which shows it was used post-war by Thailand (Siam). The extra holes typical of those that saw Thai service were welded up. New chinstrap mounting saddles and rivets were fitted. The shell has the following stamps; a very faint lot number in the crown which is not legible; a number at the centre rear which is not legible except for a 7; a diamond with an S inside for the Seiko company and the dai symbol オ for large. This helmet was stripped to bare metal; it was then primed and painted khaki. Liner: The liner is a fine replica of an original. It has a heavy leather outer band and the three leather tongues have calico pouches sewn into the back with little pillow inserts that provide padding and sizing for the liner. It is retained with two rivets and the emblem of the Imperial Japanese Navy at the front. Chinstrap: The chinstrap and components are nice replicas of the originals. The strap is nicely woven.

Restored Depiction: The helmet has a Imperial Naval Landing Force (Marines) khaki cover fitted along with a typical Japanese cam net. The cover is superbly made.
