Italian #15 Bersaglieri

Italian #15 - Shell: Original Italian Model 1933 steel shell; war time production. When acquired it was painted in some atrocious over coat; underneath was the factory grey-green paint; evidence of the factory paint still existed inside. The shell is factory stamped S 88 at the rear of the shell and on the liner frame 57. The shell is in very good condition; it was stripped to bare metal, primed then painted in dark grey-green. Liner:  The helmet retains its original brown leather liner which is in fair condition with Service use evident. It was a little stiff with age but softened up after polishing. The liner is marked as a 57cm head size but feels more like a 56cm. Chinstrap: The blue-grey leather chinstrap is a fine replica imported from Italy. Restored Depiction: This helmet is painted grey-green ‘grigio verde’ and is stenciled to the 3^rd Bersaglieri Regiment of the 3^rd Cavalry Division ‘Princepe Amedeo Duca D’Aosta’. It has a purpose made bracket mounted to the right side to accommodate the distinctive Bersaglieri plumes. An attractive helmet.
