Israeli #6 - The shell is an original Israeli M1 clone, manufactured in Israel and though very similar to US Vietnam M1s, there are some significant differences in design. The sides of the helmet are more flared and it has a rear-seam stainless-steel band. This shell is stamped in Hebrew at the inside front with the numerals 70 (might mean 1970). These were used by Israel from the 1960s and through the 1980s. The shell has evidence of its original olive-drab paint and texture outside with good coverage inside. It shows heavy Service use with numerous dings around the crown. It retains the three chinstrap mountings, one on each side and one at the rear. These mounts accommodate a British type, web para chinstrap. Apart from a bit of a clean-up, this shell remains as I received it. The helmet liner resembles the type of US liner found in Vietnam era M1s. In fact, without any Israeli markings evident, it may be a US liner. It remains original and intact with evidence of Service use. The chinstrap is an original Israeli Defence Force (IDF) issue. It is identical to British web para type, tan in colour with Israeli markings dated 1982. This helmet has been fitted with original IDF Zahal camouflage net which I have hand sewn into a helmet cover (it is reversible), a khaki net has been fitted over the IDF net and an original US helmet band has also been fitted. Love these!
