Brit57 - Shell: The shell is an original WW2, Brititsh manufactured MkII shell with a stainless-steel banded edge. The stainless-steel factory chinstrap lugs are the MkIII type and are unmarked. The factory stamps are under the flare near a chinstrap lug; they are somewhat distorted by rust pitting but read 1/1941 BMB N13 (Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd – Dagenham).  When acquired there was no original paint to speak of; there was some rust pitting to the inner dome. The rest of the shell was in good condition. The shell was stripped to bare metal and cleaned up quite nicely. It was primed then painted in olive-drab inside with a textured medium grey outer. Liner:  The helmet liner is an imported replica from SOF in Wales, it has a plastic frame, faux leather lining and a cross shaped rubber bumper. It is a head size 58 cm with a new brass top-nut. Chinstrap: The helmet has been fitted with a khaki elasticized chinstrap with a quick release buckle. It is dated 1973. Restored Depiction: This helmet has had a blue-grey camouflage pattern painted over the grey base colour. A light tan cam net has been fitted.
