Brit50 - The shell is an original WW2, British manufactured MkII shell with a stainless-steel banded edge. The stainless-steel factory chinstrap lugs are the MkIII type and are marked III 1941. The factory stamps under the flare are and near a chinstrap lug are 1/1942 23 EC & Co LTD (E Camelinat & Co Ltd - Birmingham). When acquired the shell was thickly coated in lays of paint; the uppermost being an unusual brown. The shell cleaned up quite nicely without rust, just a few minor dings around the crown. It was stripped to bare metal, primed then painted in olive-drab with a smooth outer finish. Liner:  The helmet liner is an imported replica from SOF in Wales, it has a plastic frame, faux leather lining and a cross shaped rubber bumper. It is a head size 58 cm with a new brass top-nut. Chinstrap: The helmet has been fitted with an imported replica spring/web type, khaki chinstrap with steel hardware. This helmet is in smooth olive with an original WW2, small mesh, cam net fitted.
