Brit46 (MkIII Turtle) - The shell is an original WW2, British manufactured MkIII ‘turtle’ shell with a stainless-steel banded edge and the chinstrap lugs/rivets located higher in the shell than the post-war MkIV. The helmet is clearly stamped inside the rear of the shell as BMB Mk III V96 1944 (Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd, Dagenham). When acquired the shell was painted a gluggy horrible green inside; a lot of the paint was stripped from the outside with only the remnants of the factory paint existing. This shell has been stripped to bare metal, primed and painted in olive-drab with a textured outer. A salvaged original brown leather Belgian liner, dated 1952 has been installed. Head size is 56/57 cm. It is mounted with a new bolt and brass top nut. An original cross shaped bumper pad has been fitted. The helmet has been fitted with a salvaged original MkIII helmet type elasticized olive-drab chinstrap. The helmet has been fitted with an original WW2, British made olive-drab net.
