Brit45
Brit45 - The shell is an original WW2, British manufactured MkII shell with a steel banded edge, not stainless-steel; unusual. The original factory chinstrap lugs were not present; the attachments that were present were not original nor open-ended; these I have replaced with an open-ended type so a chinstrap can be taken off or put on easily. The are no factory stamps under the flare; for a shell in such good condition, this is unusual. When acquired the shell was painted in very thick grey paint in numerous layers. The shell cleaned up very nicely; it was stripped to bare metal, primed then painted in olive-drab inside with a coarse textured desert yellow outside. The helmet liner is an imported replacement from SOF in Wales, it has a plastic frame with a faux leather liner and a draw string. It is a head size 58 cm with a new brass top-nut. The helmet has been fitted with a replacement spring/web type, khaki chinstrap with steel hardware. This helmet has a ‘stone wall’ type cam pattern applied in olive-drab over desert yellow. A khaki cam net has been fitted.
