Brit43 - The shell is an original WW2, Canadian manufactured MkII shell with a stainless-steel banded edge. The stainless-steel chinstrap lugs are the MkII type and are not marked. The factory stamps under the flare near the rear seam are C.L./C. 12 1940 (Canadian Motor Lamp Co., Windsor Ontario). When acquired the shell was painted in very thick olive-drab paint outside; with many layers; only one layer inside. There are numerous small dings around the crown and dome. The shell cleaned up very nicely; there is no rust; it was stripped to bare metal, primed then painted in smooth olive-drab. The helmet liner is an imported replica from SOF in Wales. It has a synthetic frame with faux leather lining. It is a 58cm head size and is the early Mk II type with the oval shaped bumper pad and felt spacers. It is mounted with a new brass bolt and nut. The helmet has been fitted with a replacement spring/web type, khaki chinstrap with steel hardware. The helmet has been fitted with a khaki cam net.
