Brit27
Brit27 - The shell is an original WW2, British manufactured MkII shell with a stainless-steel banded edge. The stainless-steel chinstrap lugs are the MkIII type and are not marked. The factory markings seem to be mostly obscured by a chinstrap lug but what is visible is I/1940. When acquired the shell had no paint to speak of; was covered in surface rust; much pitting to the inner dome and a section of the outside. The shell cleaned up nicely. The shell was stripped to bare metal, primed and painted in olive-drab with a textured outer. The helmet liner is an imported replacement from WPG, it has a plastic frame with a vinyl type liner and a draw string. It is a head size 58 cm with a new brass top-nut. The helmet has been fitted with a replacement spring/web type, khaki chinstrap with steel hardware. An attractive coloured olive-drab cam net has been fitted and the flash of the Royal Army Service Corps is painted on the left (red on green diagonally). The helmet depicts an ETO example.
