Brit Para #50 Israeli - Shell: The shell is a Royal Armoured Corps (RAC) Helmet with a stainless-steel band around the rim. There are no factory stamps evident. When acquired it was painted in a gloss green externally and its original olive-drab inside. It also retained its original lift-a-dot liner and elasticized chinstrap; these have been recycled for other use. The shell was stripped to bare metal, converted to a MkII para, primed then painted dark green internally and textured sand-yellow externally. A new bumper pad has been installed. Liner: This helmet has been fitted with a reproduction para liner from SOF in Wales along with brass mounting bolts. It is marked BMB 1942 7 1/4 (head size feels like 57cm). This is a quality para liner and has been fitted with blackened brass chinstrap hangers from SOF also. Chinstrap: The tan webbing, para chinstrap is of post-war Israeli surplus. It is factory marked in Hebrew and dated 1989. Restored Depiction: The helmet represents an Israeli example of a recycled British Para helmet (of which there were thousands); it is sand in colour with an original IDF Zahal reversible cam cloth cover overlaid by a khaki cam net. An olive-drab helmet band has also been fitted with the name Bernstein written in Hebrew.
