Brit Para #48
Brit Para #48
Brit Para #48 - The shell is a Royal Armoured Corps (RAC) Helmet with a stainless-steel band around the rim. There are no factory stamps evident. When acquired it was painted in probably its original olive-drab which was faded and weathered. The shell was stripped to bare metal, converted to a MkII para, primed then painted in dark olive-drab with a textured outer. This helmet has been fitted with an imported reproduction para liner from SOF in Wales along with brass mounting bolts. It is marked BMB 1942 7 1/4 (size 58cm). This is a quality para liner and has been fitted with blackened brass chinstrap hangers from SOF also. The green chinstrap is of post-war Canadian surplus. The helmet has had a green camo pattern applied along with an original WW2 small mesh cam net fitted; net has a hole in the mesh; I’ve left it as is. Also fitted on the net is original WW2 helmet scrim in light and dark shades of olive-drab. I have cut the original 2 inch wide strips in half and in six inch lengths. This helmet represents a circa 1944 British MkII para helmet in combat livery.
